Reflexology
Reflexology works on the theory that 'reflex' areas on the foot correspond to glands, organs and regions of the body. Gentle pressure and massage techniques are used on the feet, encouraging a greater sense of wellbeing and helping to relieve everyday stress and tension. Reflexology is a non-invasive treatment that only requires removal of your shoes and socks.
Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT), is a technique which stimulates reflex points on the top of the foot, whilst the client is in a standing, upright position. It uses body weight to achieve deeper access to specific reflex points, which can be combined with Synergestic Reflexology, where points on the hand are worked simultaneously with corresponding points on the foot.
VRT is a short treatment which can be used alone or in combination with Classical Reflexology, where the client is in a reclining position. Alternatively, classical reflexology can be offered for the entire session, depending upon your preference.
Although a one-off reflexology session is relaxing, you may find that several sessions can be beneficial. To achieve greater benefit a course of six sessions at weekly intervals is therefore recommended, although an improvement can usually be noted within three to four sessions. The frequency of subsequent sessions will then be reduced in consultation with you.
Reflexology is not intended as a substitute for medical treatment or advice.
