What Does a Holistic Massage Treatment Entail?
As I do not follow ‘standard’ massage routines, but instead tailor your massage to suit your needs, I carry out a consultation with you before your treatment begins. This helps me to design a ‘holistic’ treatment which takes into account your physical, social and mental wellbeing. The individualised nature of my massage treatment perhaps differentiates it from the production-line experience in some spas and health clubs and because of this, clients often see me regularly.
The depth, pressure and type of massage movements I perform can be varied from deep tissue massage pressure at one end of the spectrum to gentle relaxation massage at the other. I also warm my carrier oils prior to massage.
Benefits of Massage
Massage has a calming affect on the body, leaving you feeling deeply relaxed and refreshed with an improved sense of well-being. Additionally massage:
- May help to ease low back pain.
There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that massage may be effective in helping to support people with low back pain. In guidelines produced in 2009 by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), manual therapies – including massage – are recommended for the early management of persistent, non-specific low back pain. - Relieves tension.
- Alleviates the symptoms of stress.
- Helps to reduce everyday aches.
- Helps aid sleep.
- Relaxes and reinvigorates the body.
- Improves mood and promotes a sense of general well-being.
In order to gain maximum benefit from your treatment it is recommended that you drink a glass of water, rest and avoid eating a heavy meal afterwards.
Why do I believe I can make a difference to your health and wellbeing?
Since 2006 I have undertaken extensive study in holistic healthcare in order to be able to deliver safe, effective treatments which genuinely improve my patients’ quality of life. To further my medical knowledge in 2009 I enrolled on an Osteopathy degree at Oxford Brookes University and at the end of my five year course I was awarded a First Class Honours degree and graduated top of the class.
I am passionate about working with my patients to achieve their health goals, whether you are struggling with pain or decreased mobility then I am confident I can help. To see how I’ve made a difference to my patients’ wellbeing, please read my Testimonials from patients who have received Holistic Massage.
How Long Does a Session Last?
I offer 30 minute, 45 minute, 60 minute and 75 minute treatments.
I will add a further 45 minutes to your initial treatment, so that a full consultation can be carried out. During this time I will ask you about your symptoms and medical history. Please bring details of any medication you have been prescribed and are taking, in addition to details of any scans, such as X-Rays, Ultrasounds or MRIs to this initial session. I will record what you say in my notes which will be kept confidentially in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. If you wish, you may ask for a copy of these notes, however, an administration fee will be charged.
For follow up treatments, an extra 20 – 30 minutes will be added to the session.
How Will I Feel After My Massage?
You will feel deeply relaxed, renewed and refreshed, ready to face life’s challenges once more. Occasionally you make experience some discomfort for up to 24 hours after the treatment. This is a normal, positive process as your body responds to the massage.
