Body Massage

Massage has a calming effect primarily on the autonomic nervous system leaving the recipient feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed, restored and better able to cope with life's challenges.

The functioning of the lymphatic and circulatory systems are improved as waste products are removed from the body's tissues. Excess fluid is carried into the lymphatic system where it is cleansed of dead cells, bacteria and other waste products, contributing to a healthy body and strong immune system.

Time Out Therapies uses a holistic approach to massage, whereby the depth, pressure and type of massage movements to be used will be discussed with the client prior to treatment. Standard 'routines' are not followed and each massage varies from person to person to suit their individual requirements. All massages can be combined with the use of aromatherapy oils, for the ultimate in relaxation.

The range of massage broadly falls into two categories; Deep Tissue Massage and Lymphatic Drainage (see the descriptions below). Most clients, however, prefer to opt for a combination of the two, for example, working deeply into the back muscles and less intensely elsewhere:

Deep Tissue Massage:

This is an invigorating, stimulating massage aimed at rejuvenating tired, aching muscles and relieving muscle tension. A combination of Swedish massage techniques (whereby the tissues are alternatively struck using percussion movements), deep tissue manipulations and neuro-muscular techniques are used to help break down the lactic acid and toxins that cause stiffness in muscles. This massage is favoured by clients that play sports are or who suffer from muscle tension.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage:

This is the antithesis of the deep tissue massage and is a very gentle, relaxing, slow massage primarily aimed at moving tissue fluid into the lymphatic system. It can therefore help fluid retention.
